The Essential Electrics course will provide electrical training and competence assessment of the ability to carry out certain electrical tasks.
Who would benefit?
The course is aimed at non-electrical personnel who install, service and maintain electrically operated or controlled equipment.
Course Content
The course consists of the following training and assessment modules:
Induction. An introduction to the course.
Electrical Concepts. Finding out how electricity works.
Safe Isolation. How to isolate an electrical supply before starting work.
Instrumentation.Using multimeters for measurement and fault finding.
Electrical Regulations. Working within the law.
Supply Systems. Finding out how the earthing system operates.
Earthing & Bonding. What to bond and what not to bond.
Termination Skills. Making connections to equipment and accessories.
Electrical Safety. How to carry out electrical safety checks before switching on.
Electrical Controls. Testing thermostats, pressure switches etc.
Course Duration and Location
This 3 day course is available on-site, at training centres or other suitable venues.
Certification
Successful candidates are awarded a Certificate of Achievement and their assessment records are stored for at least six years after the assessment date.
Achievement of all 10 modules can also be recognised by the issue of a CITB Record Card or the addition of the Essential Electrics category onto an existing record card.
Course Literature
Each delegate will be issued with a comprehensive manual for use during the course, which they retain for future reference.
