City & Guilds Technical Certificate Level 3 [Full Time]

Progressing on from the City and Guilds 6129, Level 2 Technical Certificate in Plumbing, the Level 3 programme builds on the core knowledge of plumbing gained during the Level 2 course. This more advanced study programme (40 day duration) takes the student through the specification, planning, design and commissioning process of domestic plumbing and heating systems.

The course also includes comprehensive training in gas and preparation for supervised gas work; guidance on the production of a portfolio of evidence for Gas Safe and the confidence to undertake detailed assessments and exams in order to obtain your Gas Safe Engineers Certificate.

Our fully qualified plumbing lecturers will provide you with all the technical knowledge and practical skills you need to become a successful Plumbing and Heating Engineer as well as attaining the industry recognised City & Guilds 6129Level 3 Technical Certificate and NVQ.

The Plumbing Academy is an Approved Training Centre for City & Guilds and a registered ACS  Gas Assessment Centre. Located within easy travelling distance of Kent, Sussex, Surrey, London and Essex, we offer purpose built training facilities to a range of people looking to enter and progress in the plumbing trade.

The course is delivered 3 days a week (Wednesday – Friday, 8.30am – 4.30pm) over a 13 week period. This allows candidates to spend a minimum of 2 days a week working alongside an existing Gas Safe Engineer, in order to build a portfolio of evidence on the completion of supervised gas related jobs.  Ideally, candidates will already be working for a plumbing and heating company, or have the opportunity as a self-employed person to buddy up with an associate who is Gas Safe registered. There are no short cuts to getting your Gas Safe ticket. Should you need to find Gas hours; the Plumbing academy can help by referring to existing clients who may have work for you.


NOTE: The City and Guilds are combining the 6129 Technical Certificate with the 6089 NVQ to make the City & Guilds 6189 Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Domestic Plumbing and Heating and we will be offering this course when the change-over takes place.

The Level 3 course provides students with Gas training and guidance on completion of a portfolio of site work before undertaking the ACS Gas Assessments (necessary for your Gas Safe Register Application).

If you are considering entering the plumbing trade with little or no previous experience and want to become an advanced plumbing and heating engineer, the City & Guilds 6129 Level 3 Technical Certificate, combined with the level 3 NVQ and Gas training/assessments is the ultimate qualification you should obtain, after you have obtained the Level 2 qualification and Level 2 NVQ.

If you are already an experienced or qualified plumber up to level 2, then this will be the ideal next step in increasing your skills and earning potential within the industry. Depending on your level of experience and current opportunity to obtain Gas related work, you may qualify for the Gas Foundation Course instead.
